trip to the aquarium
In preparation for our up-coming trip down to Cozumel, our class recently went to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks/Tulsa.
We saw a lot of marine organisms that we anticipate seeing in the ocean in less than two weeks!
We were paying some attention to the taxonomic relationships among the organisms we observed, including invertebrates like this jellyfish. Below you can see a beautiful octopus that we are hoping to see in the Carribean.
Of course we saw a lot of vertebrates, especially fishes, including many freshwater fish found in Oklahoma waterways, as well as iguanas and turtles.

All of the photos in this post are from students in the class. We got a behind-the-scenes tour and got to see some of the tanks at the aquarium from above/behind (including the shark tank!). We're heading out soon to see coral reefs for ourselves, so we were especially interested in seeing these tanks.
